When I told my friends back in Germany, they couldn’t believe what I was doing. In my first semester of university, I already had the chance to work long-term on an issue I liked and chose, travel to other parts of the world, work in a group, gain soft skills, agree on theories and methods ourselves, and learn while practically working.
Evergreen allows for students to follow our individual learning interests, and strengthens our passion to help better the world. Our school’s education system makes space for students to forge their own learning paths, whether they decide to study abroad, engage in internships or independent learning contracts, or take a variety of stimulating on-campus academic programs.
The creation of RUC in 1972 was first a response to the requirements of the highly developed industries which needed a new kind of human capital. But at the same time there was created a new opportunity for the students who fought for a more democratic, socially engaged and critical university.
