Xing Wei College (XWC) was founded by Weiming Chen in 2010. It is, we believe, the first private, non-profit, college in the People’s Republic of China (PROC) with an educational philosophy inspired by liberal arts colleges in the United States (US). Our motto is “Freedom, Passion, Conscience.”
The creation of RUC in 1972 was first a response to the requirements of the highly developed industries which needed a new kind of human capital. But at the same time there was created a new opportunity for the students who fought for a more democratic, socially engaged and critical university.

During my first weeks in Denmark, I was lucky enough to have a group of wonderful people from my new university organizing activities and events for us international students, with the purpose of introducing us to Danish culture. The art was to be created by young art students from the local art program, and to bring in the locals, we decided that the art was to be based on personal stories and accounts from the locals living in Ringsted.
We say no to the end of history, we say no to accepting that what we have now is the best we can get. We do so by being critical, we do so by looking at things again, by examining the structures that determine how we live, and by pointing to alternative ways of doing things – alternative ways of learning and alternative readings of history, society and the people who live in it.
